
Apart from being the biggest multi-starrer in recent times, Nanban also holds the credit for being the first South Indian film to have the complete post production work done in 4K digital resolution. This has in fact set a new standard in Tamil cinema now. The film, directed by Shankar, has already hit screens today morning and the response is quite positive till now. Nanban, which stars Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth and Ileana in lead roles, was scanned on state of the art ARRI film scanner at 4K resolution and the DI process was done on uncompressed 4k real-time on Quantel Pablo DI (Digital Intermediate) system. The same technology was earlier used in Avatar too.

Vijay fans celebrate ‘Nanban’
Vijay fans started making beeline to cinema halls screening ‘Nanban’ from wee hours of today, and performed the ‘traditional rituals’ by bursting crackers, doing ‘paal abhishekam’ and burning camphor to welcome their favourite star’s movie.
The scene was almost the same at theatres in Chennai and in other parts of Tamil Nadu, as the film hits the screens amid huge expectations, since this is the first time for the Ilayathalapathy to join hands with Shankar.
Also, ‘Nanban’ follows the success of ‘Velayudham’, Vijay’s Deepavali release, which is being claimed as one of the biggest hits of 2011. “I took leave from office today to watch Nanban first day first show,” said Ramachandran Balasubramanyam, a techie.
Produced by Gemini Film Circuit, ‘Nanban’, a remake of Hindi hit ’3 Idiots’ has Jiiva and Srikanth as the other two leads. Music is by Harris Jayaraj, while Sathyaraj, Ileana D’ Cruz, Sathyan and S J Suryah have played crucial roles.

Gemini Industries and Imaging has announced that probably for the first time in south India and may be in India an entire film post production has been done in true 4K digital resolution and set a sort of standard in the industry.
The much anticipated Pongal release Nanban, was scanned on state of the art ARRI film scanner at 4K, the Digital grading DI process was done on uncompressed 4k real-time on Quantel Pablo DI (Digital Intermediate) system, the same system that was used in the Hollywood blockbuster 3D stereoscopy film Avatar.
The computer graphics was done by Gemini FX on 4k and finally the images were recorded using the Oscar winning ARRI laser 2 film recorder.
Nanban to break record collections
Vijay’s Nanban which is getting rave reviews from all sides is set to break record collections.
Shankar has not targeted the film as a Vijay film instead he has given importance to each character and proved once again that he is a director who has his own style.
Vijay has proved that he can make the audience to cry with his splendid performance. You might see the 90′s Vijay in this flick. Jeeva as usual rocks with his acting part especially at the drunken scene with the Principal.
Srikanth does a decent part as the striving youngster who wishes to make his passion as the profession. Ileana mesmerizes you with her sexy hips.
Nanban is sure to be the crowd puller of this pongal and is strongly expected to break record collections.
